I saw on Pinterest where someone used their SmartBoard for their Station Rotations. Once again... I was thinking to myself, "Seriously, why did I never think of that?" I am so glad that teachers share their ideas on-line! So, I made my own flow chart for my math stations. I have it arranged with my paired partners, so they can remember to work together. While I was making my chart, which literally took about 15 minutes, I realized that I wouldn't be able to use my timer anymore. I use it every day so the students will know when to change stations. Then, the idea came to me...I can just copy and paste it to my station board!
We used this today instead of the super cute Stations Chart I spent hours making....and it was GREAT! The students loved it, and it was easily read and interpreted by all of my students. My new motto is that it doesn't matter how long I spend making something. If I find something that works better- then I should just use it! (I am still using my old chart for my Reading Stations.)
I would love some info about how you made this. I am new to smart boards and think something like this would be really helpful for my small group rotations.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to help you! Do you see all of the tools at the top of the SmartBoard? I used the shapes tool at the top to create the different shapes. After you create the size you would like, you click on the black arrow- and then click again inside the shape. This is how you write the words in the shape. I made the arrows using the shapes button, too. I used copy and paste to put the pictures in. I think I found my timer on the SmartBoard tools or on the internet. It has been a few years ago, so I can't remember where I found it. Just play with your SmartBoard. There are so many cool things on it, and it can really enhance your lessons. DeleteI'm confused...do you not have your board as a station?? My kids LOVE doing math stations and literacy station activities at the board. They are so disappointed when I'm gone or the board is "acting up!"
